Purpose Grounding students, and self.
Equipment None
Time About 5 minutes to explain + 1-2 minutes per person.
Discussion
Talking may be as simple as asking if student (or client) wants to be grounded.
Most grounding techniques require students to be able to somehow ground themselves. Usually, the students that need grounding the most, are not the ones able to ground themselves. Symptoms of un-groundedness can range from inability to focus, headache, excessive giggles or nausea.
Directions
1. Have student stand perpendicular to you (their side facing you).
2. Stand slightly in front of them, and raise both your arms over your head.
3. Breathe in. Tense your arms so that as pull them down, it feels like you’re really pushing.
4. Think "ground" and slowly lower your arms in front of their body, pull the energy of their aura down. Slowly breathe out as you do this. When your get near the ground, suddenly push the rest of the energy into the ground, letting out your remaining breath.
5. Stand slightly behind them (still perpendicular) and raise both your arms over your head
6. Repeat step 2-4 down students back
7. Stand behind student, and repeat, pulling down the energy on either side of students.
8. Put hands on head of student, and think "ground" as you visualize bringing the energy down through the body. Repeat at the shoulders, waist, knees and feet.
9. Check in with client.
Comments
I was guided to develop this while co-teaching a Karuna Reiki Master class of 30 in Sedona with William Rand. Keeping grounded was a real problem. I have used this technique extensively since then. I have learned different grounding techniques over the years, and have never found one that worked as well as this. One of the advantages of this technique, is the ungrounded person does’t have to do anything for this technique to work on them. Another advantage is that it also grounds the person who is performing the exercise.
