Where
in Japan and America can be checked for historical references
to Mikao Usui. Usui traveled to the United States, Europe
and China, he must have had a visa. There may also be information
on where in the US he traveled, and perhaps on what he did
there.
Was Usui
christian? I originally found that to be the most unbelievable
aspect of the story. However, as I learned more about the
time period he lived in, the more it is at least plausible.
Christianity had been completed banned for 250 years in Japan,
but it gained great popularity during Usui's lifetime as part
of Japan's modernization effort. Japanese were quite comfortable
with being Buddhist and Shinto. With the introduction of Christianity
many Japanese experimented with being Christian as well. If
Usui had been Christian, his name might appear somewhere in
Japanese Christian church records.
Fumio
Ogawa, of the Shizuoka branch of Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai,
gave Arjava Petter the following information. "For a
while, Mikao Usui had been the private secretary of the politician
Shimpei Goto, who was secretary of the Railroad, the Postmaster
General, and the secretary of the Interior and state. In the
year Taisho 9 (1922) Mr Goto became the Mayor of Tokyo."
How can we find out more about Mr Goto? This might also lead
to knowing more about Usui and his connections.
Can we
find someone associated with Mt Kurama who can speak to us
about the nature of Kurama and the Kurama-Kokyo sect of Buddhism. |
