Welcome to the ReikiMastery News!Late Summer 2009
This summer has been all about moving, so I wrote an article about Ki in houses, then just a few days before I went to press, i saw 5 minutes of a pro baseball game, and ended up sending a lot of Reiki to the pitcher who got hit by a line drive.
Experimenting with a new format, all classes are listed on left column only.
Sorry for the gap between newsletters. It has been a busy few months!
I was only intending to move where Jeff & I lived. But some times life has other plans, and I found myself scrambling for a new primary teaching location as well, and found one at the Tree of Life Center in Glendale/La Crescenta.
About our New Home in Frazier Park
We have moved to Frazier Park, which is in the Grapevine area of I5, just north of Los Angeles, and south of Bakersfield. Instead of a cramped 1 bedroom in very convenient South Pasadena, we are now renting a 1400 sq ft house in less convenient but beautiful Frazier Park. I am really enjoying having a full size kitchen, enough room for all the stuff we had in storage in our 2 car garage, and Jeff and I each have an office. The best part is the area. It feels good here. We are in the mountains, and can see the milky way at night. Jeff is looking forward to snow in the winter time. The unpacking will take awhile, but it already feels like home. It will be about an hour from my new teaching location, but since I don't commute every day, that should be fine.

About my new Glendale/La Crescenta Teaching Location at the Tree of Life Center
I sent an email to my mailing list about my new location. I want to thank you for the many touching replies I received. Your support is greatly appreciated.
I am going to reproduce the info about my new center here in case you didn't see it.
A week ago, I found out that my main teaching location in Pasadena/ Sierra Madre where i have been for 10 years is going to be turned into office space, and that I can no longer teach my seminars there as of mid-August.
n the process of looking at and discarding several class location options, I sent an email to the Tree of Life center which I had visited last fall. It turns out they are in the process of moving, and are opening a new center in La Crescenta (next to Glendale/Burbank). And they were just getting ready to contact their teachers and schedule classes! The timing was extraordinarily perfect, and they (well actually she, it is run by Shelly Downes) was able to accomodate all the classes I had scheduled for the fall in Pasadena.
Healing Nights will be on 1 Friday night a month. I will send out the fall schedule soon, probably next week. I will be doing monthly healing nights at Heart and Soul in Pasadena/Altadena, and periodically at Lotus of Light in Glendora as well, so you should still be able to find something to attend.
The new location is Tree of Live Center: 3608 Foothill Blvd. La Crescenta, Ca. 91214 (on some maps it is Glendale) They just got a hardwood floor put in, they have hired an artist friend to paint a tree of life wall mural and put in a fountain. The space is a storefront, with a similar amount of floor space to what we have had in Sierra Madre. It has a nice little new age shop next door, and a mediteranean restaurant and a japanese restaurant a block away, with more restaurants a short drive down the street. There are a couple of oldfashioned non-chain motels a mile or two away, with some chain motels about 5 miles away. There are bus connections to the redline metro, for those who dont want to drive. ((It will also be a bit more convenient for me to drive in from my new home in Frazier Park, making it just under an hour))
Importance of Ki at home
All this focus on moving has really gotten me to pay attention to what a home is.
Home is a sanctuary. Home is a place we go to recoup the energies we spend on other parts of our lives. Home is the place where we live the part of our lives which is most personally ours.
The home is an ideal place to bring positive Ki energy. Having more positive Ki energy in your home can improve your life and the life of your family in a number of ways. Ki helps keep us in optimal health, both physically and emotionally. So you can use Reiki, and the natural Ki energy of your environment to nourish the energy of your space.
What is the energy of your home like?
We live in a sea of energy. We are as unaware of it as a fish is of the ocean, and yet it affects us as intimately, our mood, our energy level, and even our health. One of the most powerful examples is walking into a hospital and noticing how your energy nose dives. Hospitals are places where the majority of people are some combination of fearful, upset, and trying to heal, all of which pull positive Ki out of the air.
To a lesser degree this happens in homes as well. While people vary in there sensitivity to energy, most can feel it in there head, their heart or there gut. Stand in the center of an less used space like a garage, and move into a more used space, such as a kitchen or livingroom. Try with your eyes open and your eyes closed, moving slowly. How do these spaces feel different? Walk through your home and notice how the rooms belonging to each member of your family feel different, and even how rooms with different functions feel different.
Clearing Negative energy out of your home
There is nothing wrong with dirt, you just don't want it in your house. Living creates heavy Ki, especially stress, worry, and anger. Use Reiki energy to help sweep out the dirt. Get a broom and add Reiki energy to it by drawing Reiki 2 power symbols over it, or (if you are not yet reiki 2 trained) rub your hands together to generate ki, then blow across your hands onto the straw of the broom to put healing energy into it.
Now use the broom to slowly sweep heavy energy away from the floor, walls and ceiling. You do not have to actually touch the walls with the end of the broom, just get close. Pay extra attention to corners, and areas around furniture where negative energy collects. Sweep the energy out the door or windows where the natural energy of sunlight can neutralize it.
Inviting Natural Ki into your home
Have you ever thought about why we go on vacation? The most relaxing vacation spots are those which have high levels of natural ki. These places invariably have one or more of the following, water, mountains or trees. When we are in these places we relax.. They feed us at a very deep level.
How can you bring more natural Ki into your home? First, look out the windows. What nature is around. Notice trees, sky, grass and flowers. Now stand inside your house, and with your hands palms up intend to reach out into "the green' lift your palms and imagine inviting and pulling the outside energy into your home. Trees, grass and shrubs don't have much to do but grow. Inviting in this natural Ki, helps keep your home feeling more open and fresh, and helps you feel more connected to the natural world in your neighborhood.
Enjoy! Let us know if the feeling of your house changes.
10 minutes a day in Nature
One of the biggest shifts human beings in the modernized world have made in the last few centuries is how much time we spend inside vs outside. Houses were once places humanity would go to sleep, and to get out of the weather. One very simple thing you can do to improve yourself is to spend 10 minutes a day in nature. Dont just exercise, or cross the parking lot, but spend a few minutes just being outside. Sit with the flowers, sit with the mountains, sit with the stars, and just be.
Emergency Reiki: Pro Baseball
I don't watch sports, pretty much ever. But there I was, having dinner after my class in Simi Valley at a mexican restaurant, and there was a baseball game on tv. And suddenly everyone in the restaurant was staring at the screen. I looked over, and they replayed what had just happened. The pitcher had thrown, the batter had hit, and the ball had gone straight to the pitchers head. They showed it over and over again from different angles.
We all were certain this man would be nearly dead, or at least badly brain injured. There is no way a baseball going 90+ miles an hour can hit a player in the temple and it be okay. Everyone at the stadium just watched as they waited for the paramedics.. Everyone in the restaurant just stayed watching the screen. One of the great things about Reiki is that you are never helpless, so in the middle of the restaurant, i did a distance symbol and started doing Reiki. It took in huge amounts of Reiki, felt very scrambled. Normally, i do alot of pulling congealed energy out, but this time, i just felt like I had to keep my hands there, keeping the energy together. I continued to send like that for about 45 minutes. At one point, I felt this wierd sense of lurch, which i wonder was of him being shifted from the ambulance into the hospital. Even after we got back from the restaurant, I just felt compelled to keep sending.. I woke up the next morning, and sent again, but it was much cooler.. much more normal. I got up and checked the news.
It turned out the pitcher was Japanese, which considering my ties with Japan, seemed pretty amazing. Hiroki Kuroda was fine and released that morning from the hospital. Later testing showed he had gotten only the most minor concussion, with no internal bleeding or anything else. Today, less than a week later, he is playing catch again.
When a tragedy like this happens, drop everything you are doing, and send Reiki. I don't know how many other Reiki people were in the stands, or watching the game on TV as I was and sent distance healing. I don't know how many others prayed, or did whatever other spiritual practices they found helpful. I am just thankful for this man sake, that we were all there and ready to help. I thank the universe for the gift of Reiki.
