News

We now have a Healing Room in our house! Starting in Mid-January, we will be doing private Healing sessions at my house in Sierra Madre. Cost is $75 for a 1 hour appointment, or $120 for a 2 hour appointment for Reiki sessions/Reiki tutoring with Jessica or Astrology readings with Jeff. Sessions with both Jeff and Jess (massage, astrology and energy work are $100/hour)

Japan was terrific. I had a great trip and learned a lot. I am starting to work on a CD-rom or DVD project about Mt Kurama. I had an amazing Prayer day (actually 2 days) on Kurama, reading the prayers that people had sent me. Several people have emailed me back saying that the energy of Kurama has really helped them.

I have gotten some more details about my forthcoming book: Reiki's Birthplace: Mt Kurama. The book will be over 250 pages, many of them photographs. It will be printed on high quality paper. While technically a paperback, the Flexibond cover will make it almost a hardcover. It should be out sometime during the first quarter of the year.

Jeff and I set a date for our wedding, July 4th 2007. We are going to have a very small family ceremony in Morro Bay, then have a "Wedding Party" sometime later in July (probably July 13th) in the Pasadena area.

My folks have sold their greenhouse business (which they started when I was in high school), and are retiring to be near family in Indiana. Jeff and I are spending the time between Christmas and New Years helping them move. I went to a Chiro on Cape Cod, who said that it was due to an old fall that threw out my shoulder blade, causing the shoulder joint to be prone to troubles. He fixed that, and said it would take time, but I will get steadily better. I had sent a healing request out to few healing lists and a few specific healers as well and am feeling much better. I highly recommend that if you ever have a serious injury or illness yourself or in your friends and family that you send the request out to the healing lists.

Reiki in Napa Valley

One of my students has invited a group to come to Napa Valley in late January. (Tues/Wed/Thur March Jan 30, Jan 31, Feb 1) We are not sure if it will be a Reiki class, or just a Reiki exchange/share retreat, but we will do Reiki in the morning, go wine tasting in the afternoon. The cost and agenda are uncertain, but if you are interested, please email me to let me know.

Reiki Breath of Joy

Draw/or visulize a power symbol or Usui Master symbol, and place your hands around it and say its name three times. Then say "Joy, Joy, Joy" Then breathe in the energy of joy into your lungs and belly. Hold your breathe a moment, then exhale the joy through every cell of your body. Repeat 7 times.

An Inconvenient Truth

An Inconvenient Truth. I highly recommend this film to give a good picture of the reality behind global warming. Al Gore did a great job of showing the actual science, and giving numbers and perspective to what we are facing. In my research online about the film, it gets consistently high marks in covering the science well. National Geographic did several articles you may wish to look at. http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2006/05/060524-global-warming.html. They had a few nitpicks about the film (which I agreed with), but overall supports it.

The only suggestion that I would have liked to have seen emphasized more is to encourage your kids to study science, and become interested in helping solve this problem. (Science and Reiki are NOT mutually exclusive) Reading any issue of Discover magazine will show you that scientists are actually considering all kinds of solutions, from concentrating CO2 with mechanical scrubber trees, and putting the CO2 under the ocean, to shading the earth from space. Something will work.
There is a natural tendency in humanity to switch from denial a problem exists, to assuming the problem is too big to do anything about, both of which justify their true denial which is "I wish to do nothing."
It's actually wierdly similar to the position that some skeptics take on Reiki, where they will switch at random, often in the same paragraph from "Reiki does not exist, and you are just deluding yourself" to variations of "Reiki is so powerful that it must be dangerous", both of which justify their true denial position of "I wish to not have to think about this"
I actively looked for some articles that countered the movie, as I wanted to read some critique from those critical of the whole idea of global warning. I found a few, but actually, they were pretty hard to find. One of the more detailed is http://www.johnstonsarchive.net/environment/gore.html. He (and most articles of this type) takes apart the film on some of it's specifics, but his claims about the film are weakened because he doesnt really present any counter data, just argues on the specifics the film present. Considering that presenting any such complex topic to the general public in the time frame required by a movie or single book requires a great deal of simplification of specifics, this is not a surprise. The article nitpicks at a lot of the small details, and then makes broad generalizations like "the scientific community is engaged in much research and debate" over global warming, but gives no references to support this claim. It says that more detailed work would be needed to support a particular claim made in the movie, but their is no push in the article to actually do the research.
A few days later we watched "Thankyou for Smoking." This comedy drama is about how stories get spun, and is fun to watch.
